1994
The First NIS Regional Fund – one of the first foreign private equity funds in Russia and the CIS – is launched with committed capital of $160 million.

1995
Burren Energy is established, focusing on oil production and transportation in the Caspian region (and later in Western Africa and other regions). 

1996
The First NIS Regional Fund makes an investment in mineral water producer Borjomi, the first foreign private equity investment in Georgia.

1997
Telecommunications company Vimpelcom successfully places its shares on the New York Stock Exchange, the first Russian company to achieve an IPO on a foreign exchange.

1998
The First NIS Regional Fund distributes $100 million to its investors.

1999
Baring Vostok is bolstered by the addition of several top managers, recruited from other Russian investment groups.

2000
«SladCo», a national confectionery products brand, is created as three regional factories - Confi (Ekaterinburg), Volzhanka (Ulianovsk), and Zarya (Kazan) - consolidated under one management structure and brand.

2001
The Baring Vostok Private Equity Fund has its final closing of $205 million, the first foreign private equity fund raised in the wake of the 1998 financial crisis.

2002
Austria’s Neusiedler purchases Syktyvkar Forestry Enterprise, representing the largest acquisition by a foreign strategic player in the Russian forestry and paper sector up to that date.

2003
Burren Energy Plc successfully floats its shares on the London Stock Exchange.

2004
Confectionery company SladCo is sold to the Norwegian strategic player Orkla Group.

2005
The Baring Vostok Private Equity Fund III is raised with total committed capital of $413 million.

2006
CTC Media places its shares on NASDAQ with a market capitalization at IPO of over $2 billion.

2007
The Baring Vostok Private Equity Fund IV is raised with $1.1 billion of total committed capital.  The $302 million Baring Vostok Fund IV Supplemental Fund is raised shortly thereafter.

2008
The acquisition of Burren Energy by ENI is completed.
